TI Summajam To Honor 11 GT Entertainment ‘Pioneers’


The mega popular Grand Turk summer festival - TI Summajam ’23 – is to honour 11 entertainment pioneers from the capital island.


The honorees are Ms. Crystal “Tess” Charles; Ms. Barbaralee Johnson; Mr. David Bowen; Mr. Huntley “Super P The Entertainer” Forbes Jnr; Mrs. Lynnette Thomas; Mrs. Cheryl Ann Forman; Ms. Catherine Ann Forbes; Ms. Angela Freites; Ms. Valerie Jennings (posthumously); Mr. Joseph Robinson; and Mr. Stanley “Hitchie” Astwood.


The event will honor them for their tremendous contribution to the upkeep and promulgation of the TCI culture, especially in the field of entertainment.


The TI Summa Jam Festival will take place from July 19 to 22, at the popular Victoria Public Library Courtyard. The highlighted performances this year will come from Pro-Vision Band Boys; Elroy Simmons; Tess Charles; DJ Shakes; Prime Dee Jays; DJ RIG and; DJ Blow.


The event will kick off on Wednesday, July 19 at 6p.m. with a motorcade and parade of the Miss Grand Turk and Miss Teen Grand Turk Pageant contestants. On Thursday, July 20, the Miss Teen Grand Turk, which starts at 7p.m., will be held.


On Friday, July 21, beginning at 7p.m., The exciting Miss Grand Turk Pageant will be held. The winner automatically gets to represent Grand Turk in next year’s Provo Day Festival.


The festival will climax on Saturday July 22, with the Parade of Nations Motorcade, followed by the Talent and Culture Showcase.


With its rich history dating back from 1995, TI Summa Jam strictly focuses on discovering, recognizing, promoting, encouraging local talent, and “Keeping the Vibe Alive” in the island of Grand Turk, which the organizers dub as the birthplace of TCI culture and entertainment.
