A 20-year-old male from Dock Yard found himself in court today facing a string of firearm-related charges stemming from an investigation by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.
James Simon, the accused, was denied bail and remanded into custody until a Sufficiency Hearing set for July 5th, 2024.
Simon faces a litany of charges, including robbery, gang membership, and possession of firearms and ammunition for the benefit of a gang. These charges originated from an incident at a casino parking lot where three individuals, allegedly including Simon, robbed a victim.
Further charges were brought against Simon following his arrest on May 2nd along South Dock Road. These additional charges include possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as unlawful entry.
In connection with the May 2nd incident, a teenage minor accompanying Simon was also charged with unlawful entry. The seventeen-year-old from Kew Town, Providenciales, entered a guilty plea and is awaiting sentencing scheduled for May 20th.
Man Charged with Vehicle Theft and Robbery Granted Bail
In the meantime, the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has made an arrest in connection with a vehicle theft incident.
Danvante Brisco, a 30-year-old resident of Kew Town, Providenciales, stands accused of multiple offences related to the incident.
Brisco was charged with robbery, taking a motor vehicle without authority, and using an offensive weapon to cause fear. The charges stem from an alleged incident involving the theft of a vehicle.
Appearing in court on May 13th, Brisco was granted bail set at $7500.00 with one surety. The case has been adjourned until July 5th for a Sufficiency Hearing, where further details regarding the charges will be examined.
The arrest underscores the commitment of law enforcement to address criminal activities, including vehicle theft, in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
