Residents of Sandy Points North Caicos are currently staging a demonstration calling on the authorities to immediately begin dredging work between Parrot Cay and Sandy Point, claiming that the channel is rapidly narrowing and now posing as a disaster waiting to happen.
One resident who spoke to NewslineTCI said that the Parrot Cay boat, which normally ferry residents between Parrot Cay and Sandy point can no longer make the voyage due to closing of the channel. They said residents are forced to climb into a small boat to take them to a from their destination, which they described as an uncomfortable feeling.
They are therefore calling on the authorities, including Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Arlington Musgrove to immediately look into the matter.
