The Island of Providenciales is again reeling from another murder after gunmen snuffed out the life of a man and left his female companion battling for life in hospital., according to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police
The police said the incident, which took place in South Dock on Friday, happened about 11:45p.m.
Investigators said It is believed that a number of shots were fired into a vehicle as it was leaving an address in the area.
“The driver of the car, a man received fatal injuries and a female in the vehicle received serious injuries,” the police report said.
Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said, weighing in on the matter said that the incident points to a targeted attack, even though investigators are widening theory.
“This appears to be a targeted attack, but detectives are keeping an open mind as to the motive,” the commission said, while appealing for persons with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
“As always, if anyone knows anything about this shooting, please call 911 or tell CrimeStoppers. We cannot just accept this level of violence and we need to work together to stop the cycle of shootings. If you know something, please say something,” Commissioner Botting said.
The police have not released the name of the deceased man.
