Decomposing Body Of Haitian National Found


A top-level investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances which led to the decomposing body-find of a 50-year-old Haitian male off the South Dock main road in Providenciales on Sunday, May 7.


The investigation is being led by detectives from Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (TCIPF).


The police report reported that at about 9:48p.m. a call was placed to the Chalk Sound, Police Station, informing officers that a male body was found lying motionless on the ground in an area near Silverado in the vicinity of Mompremier Towing.


The police said based on the information received, officers visited the scene and stumbled upoin the decomposing body, which was later identified as that Edrin Siffard.


“This is being treated as a suspicious death and the RTCIPF are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death and its classification,” said Denyse Renne, the information officer for the RTCIPF.


Investigators, in the meantime, are asking the public to notify the closest police station or to contact Crime Stoppers and give any information on that particular incident or any illegal activity, anonymously.


“Please note, that Crime Stoppers calls are answered in Miami and in Houston by Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers which is a non-profit and not a police agency,” Renne further stated.


Shootings being investigated


Meanwhile, the RTCIPF is two shoots, which took place on in the communities of Kew Town and Five Cays on Sunday, May 7 The police said the shootings occurred minutes after each other.


The police said based on preliminary reports, the first incident occurred around 8:46 p.m.

The Police Control Room received a call that gunshots were being heard in Musgrove Close, Kew Town. A team of officers responded to the scene where they retrieved several spent shell on the ground.


Officers also observed that three vehicles – a Silver Mazda Demio, a Silver Nissan Tiida and a black Dodge Caravan received damages consistent with gunshots. No one was injured.


The police said no injuries were reported from the shootings. However, the Serious Crime Team have launched investigations Investigations into both matters.
