
The Immigration Department is currently processing 147 Haitian Migrants, whose boat was intercepted on Friday, April 14 as they attempted landfall.
According to Denyse Renne, Media Relations Officer with the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, a report of a suspicious vessel near West Caicos was communicated to the police, who dispatched a team from the Marine Branch, via the Sea Protector, at about minutes past 8a.m.
While on the mission, the Marine Branch intercepted a blue twin outboard engine vessel laden with the illegal migrants.
A final count revealed 121 males and 26 females on board. The migrants were handed over to the Immigration Task Force.
The RTCIPF pointed that Friday’s operation was the 11thinterception of illegal migrants since the start of 2023.
The public is being advised to notify the closest police station or to contact Crime Stoppers and give any information illegal activity anonymously.
“Please note, that Crime Stoppers calls are answered in Miami and in Houston by Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers which is a non-profit and not a police agency.
The calls are anonymous and cannot be traced in the United States or the TCI,” the news release said.
