A 26 year old man has been formally cautioned and charged with murder by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force on Friday August 27, 2021.
Kendell Dean of Wheeland, Blue Hills has been formally cautioned and charged for murder in relation to the shooting of 24 year old Joshua Swann of South Dock Road.
The shooting took place on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 in the vicinity of North West Point, Blue Hills, Providenciales.
Superintendent Lisa Mitcheson, head of Crime and Public Protection expressed the significance of the charge, stating, "This was an extremely serious shooting incident that resulted in the unnecessary death of a young man."
The superintendent revealed that the court granted a warrant of further detention for the suspect to be held in police custody for a period of 14 days, during which, the officers worked to collect available evidence resulting in the suspect being charged with murder.
"The Serious Crimes Investigations Unit, with assistance from officers across the force, worked around the clock to progress this investigation. It was a team effort. Police still seek further witnesses that either witnessed the incident on the night or have any information in relation to it," she said.
