Academy Eagles FC were officially crowned champions of the Beaches Resort-sponsored Provo Premier League (PPL) Clausura Round after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Teachers YS in the feature Match #56, completing an outstanding and unbeaten campaign.
Â

Entering the decisive fixture, the Eagles needed a win to guarantee the title, and they wasted little time asserting their dominance. The league leaders struck early in the first half, with forward Wepsdel Saintlus opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Just two minutes later, Jean Innocent doubled the advantage, finishing clinically in the 17th minute to put Academy Eagles firmly in control.
Â
Holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Eagles looked poised to close out the match comfortably, but Teachers YS responded with determination in the second half. Their efforts were rewarded in the 57th minute when Genixson Petion converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Despite mounting pressure from Teachers YS in the closing stages, Academy Eagles’ defense held firm, demonstrating the composure and resilience that has defined their season.
Â
The match was played with high intensity, reflected in several cautions issued to both teams. Teachers YS had three players booked, while Academy Eagles also received multiple yellow cards. However, the Eagles maintained their focus when it mattered most, seeing out the game to secure all three points and the championship.
Â
Captain Mykerwens Varis delivered a commanding performance and was named Academy Eagles’ Player of the Match. He later had the honor of lifting the Clausura trophy, which was presented by Provo Premier League President Patrick Baptiste. For Teachers YS, Bebetho Beauplan was recognized as his team’s standout performer.
Â
Earlier in the day, SWA Sharks FC kept their slim title hopes alive with a dominant 6-0 victory over Provo United FC in Match #55. Brian Gregg led the charge for the Sharks with a hat trick, scoring in the 45th, 56th, and 68th minutes, while Jake Maughan, Marc-Edy Longchamp, and Junior Paul also found the back of the net. Despite the emphatic win, the Sharks were ultimately dependent on an Academy Eagles loss, which did not materialize.
Â
Academy Eagles’ triumph caps a flawless Clausura campaign, as they finished at the top of the standings with seven wins from seven matches. The team scored freely throughout the competition while maintaining one of the league’s strongest defensive records, separating themselves clearly from the rest of the field.
Â
Their consistency, attacking efficiency, and defensive discipline have made them deserving champions and one of the most dominant sides in recent Provo Premier League history.
Â
With the Clausura title secured, Academy Eagles FC have firmly established themselves as the team to beat, completing a perfect season and lifting the Beaches Resort-sponsored PPL trophy in impressive fashion.
