A Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force released mugshot of Sharitta Shinice Grier after being charged with possession of ammunition

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has taken action against Sharitta Shinise Grier, a 45-year-old visitor from Orlando, U.S.A. Ms. Grier was charged on May 14th, 2024, with one count of Possession of Ammunition following an incident at the Howard Hamilton International Airport in Providenciales.

According to the police report, on Monday, May 13th, 2024, during a routine search at the airport, Ms. Grier was found to be in possession of ammunition. Subsequently, she appeared in the Magistrate Court on May 16th, where she was remanded pending a Sufficiency Hearing scheduled for July 5th.

The circumstances surrounding the possession of the ammunition remain undisclosed, pending further investigation and legal proceedings. However, the charges indicate the seriousness with which law enforcement authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands approach such incidents.

In recent months, authorities at the Howard Hamilton International Airport have apprehended outgoing tourists, whose luggage were found to contain bullets.

About four others are currently before the courts for similar charges. Some of the bullets found are said to be hunting ammunition and were accidentally left in the luggage by the tourists.
