When families visit Sandals or Beaches resorts, they of course anticipate a memorable get-a-way with their loved ones.
But what many may not be aware of, is the fact that many of these guests who make the Caribbean their home away from home, do not only leave an impression of their footprints in the sand.
More importantly, through a partnership with the Sandals Foundation and United States based non profit - Pack for a Purpose initiative, many of the guests have an opportunity to leave an indelible impression upon the hearts of children, their parents and other members of the community. The Turks and Caicos Islands is no exception.
The partnership with Pack for a Purpose provides an opportunity for guests staying at Beaches or Sandals resort to make a meaningful contribution by packing and bringing up to five (5) pounds of educational supplies for local communities.
Recently, twin sisters Robbie Ginn and Renee Rice, both of whom are travel agents and members of the Chairman’s Royal Club (CRC), traveled with their families to Beaches Turks and Caicos and seized the opportunity to bring a number of school supplies.
The family, accompanied by Sandals Foundation volunteers of Beaches Turks and Caicos (BTC), made a courtesy call upon Enid Capron Primary School where all their gifts were donated.
The resort staff led the devotion, teaching the kids a valuable lesson on honesty through songs and dramatization. It was an interactive session that allowed students to demonstrate principles of integrity.
CRC Robbie Ginn, who spoke on behalf of the family, affirmed, “We should always seek to do good and help those who are in need because it is only through our love and kindness that we will help to make this world a better place.”
Principal, Sophia Garland and Vice Principal, Nelene Swann were on hand to receive the donation on behalf of the school. They thanked the family and the team of volunteers for having considered them. Garland expressed her appreciation for all the help that the institution has received from the Sandals Foundation throughout the years.
“Just this morning a parent contacted me and expressed some challenges. Not knowing exactly where the help would come from, I told the parent to send the child, we will work something out. This help is right on time,” Garland pointed out.
Public Relations Manager, Orville Morgan, in reflecting on the success of the visit shared, “These are exactly the kinds of relationships that we seek to foster between donors of the Sandals Foundation and the community.
The guests love to come in and see first-hand, the beneficiaries of their donations and of course it provides a wonderful opportunity for persons to express their heartfelt gratitude when they meet the benefactors.”
Enid Capron Primary has seen “Christmas” in September, thanks to the generous donation of CRCs Robbie Ginn, Renee Rice and family. It is activities such as these that inspire hope in the lives of many.
