A man has been shot to death in Blue Hills on Tuesday night, July 2, 2024 in what appeared a robbery gone wrong.

The man is identified as Louise Beliare of Blue Hills. The police did not provide his age at this time.

The latest gun death not only jacked up the murder rate to 22 for the year, but also marked the fifth Blue Hills persons to die by criminals in about two weeks.

According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, approximately 10:43 PM, officers responded to reports of gunshots and discovered Beliare's lifeless body upon arrival. Preliminary investigations indicated that five males, dressed in black, attempted to rob a female who had just returned home. The victim's relative, Louise Beliare, rushed outside to assist her and was subsequently shot by the criminals, who then fled the scene.

Superintendent Dean Holden, Head of Crime, Safeguarding, Public Protection, and Intelligence, stated that preliminary investigations revealed that five males dressed in black attempted to rob a female who had just returned home. The female raised an alarm, prompting a male relative to rush outside to assist her. Tragically, the male relative, identified as Louise Beliare, was shot by the criminals, who then fled the scene.

Superintendent Holden extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, emphasizing the RT&CIPF's commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
