The Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Providenciales is currently under lockdown after a gunshot victim was admitted earlier today.
The hospital has heightened security measures and suspended visitation to its in-patient unit in response to the incident, prioritizing the safety of staff, patients, and visitors.
According to a statement from the hospital, the decision to suspend visitation was made "to preserve the safety of our staff, patients, and their families." Despite the lockdown, other services at the hospital, including the emergency department, surgical and routine outpatient clinics, X-rays, and laboratory services, remain operational.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force is investigating the shooting, which occurred near South Dock Road in Providenciales. The police were alerted at 12:58 PM when the victim sought treatment at a medical facility for what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or any illegal activity to contact the nearest police station or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. Additionally, the public is encouraged to use the Crime Stoppers P3 app to share information discreetly.
