The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) in collaboration with Carnival Corporation and the Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC) announces a Town Hall Meeting to be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parade Grounds, Grand Turk.
The goals of the meeting are to provide the community of Grand Turk with an update on the port developments at the Grand Turk Cruise Center, advise of initiatives to be undertaken jointly by the TCIG and Carnival and to include a question and answer (Q&A) session to respond to any inquiries, comments or concerns regarding the operations of the GTCC and plans for the short to medium term.
One would expect to hear views about the industry in general, especially in the context of cruising since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Information emanating from this meeting would be of benefit to entrepreneurs already operating in the cruise-tourism sector, or those interested in starting local cruise/hospitality businesses that service the sector. Equally important, as a member of the public, it will be essential to understand what cruise passengers expect from and would be looking for in this destination.
Engagement is necessary as we seek to reset the cruise-tourism product and service offerings on Grand Turk to ensure a fulfilling visitor experience, which can lead to growth in income/revenues for the residents and the Government alike.
Kindly note that all Covid-19 protocols regarding social gatherings will need to be adhered to. Attendees are being asked to enter through both the north-western and southern gates and will be required to undertake temperature checks as well as have their names recorded. Please wear masks at all times during the meeting.
Representatives from media houses are welcomed. However, questions from the media will be taken after the meeting. This will allow for a focused session with the media itself; as well as give the other members of the general public an opportunity to field their questions during the Q&A session.
