Cruise Ship Passengers Assault Police Officers in Grand Turk Incident

A disturbance involving cruise ship passengers erupted this afternoon near the poolside of the Grand Turk Cruise Centre, leading to the arrest of two men and a police investigation.

According to a statement from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF), the altercation occurred around 3:10 p.m. when a distressed employee reported a physical fight in progress. Officers responded immediately to the scene, where they encountered a large crowd and ongoing commotion.

Security personnel pointed out two individuals believed to be at the center of the disturbance. When police attempted to detain one of the men, a 39-year-old, he reportedly resisted arrest. Several others allegedly intervened, shoving officers and attempting to prevent the arrest.

During the altercation, a female officer was assaulted by an unidentified woman and sustained a minor injury to her left arm.

Despite repeated verbal warnings from police, interference continued as the suspects were being detained and escorted to the nearby police post.

Two men, aged 39 and 45, were arrested for fighting in a public place and taken to the GTCC Police Post for processing. Following interviews, both were released and escorted back to their cruise ship. The matter has been reported to the ship’s security team for monitoring.

A brief video clip of the incident has since surfaced on social media, prompting further public interest.

Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey has ordered a full investigation into the matter.
