Despite not taking home the main prizes at the event to be held Saturday October 9, the North Caicos District Commissioner, with her entry ‘Special Needs People’, was only three individuals to get honourable mention. In fact, she was atop the honourable mentions’ list.

The other two individuals to join Musgrove on the honourable mentions’ list were Christianna Shehadeo from Trinidad and Tobago, with her piece called ‘Thrive’, and Vera Patterson from Canada with her entry entitled ‘Mama’s Children’.

The first prize went to Candice Dianne Skerrette from Trinidad and Tobago with her entry ‘Let Girls be Girls’. The second place prize went to Zenna Lewis from St. Vincent and the Grenadines with her piece ‘Madam Anxiety’, while the third place went to Ysanna John from the British Virgin Islands entitled ‘From Corona’s Diary’.

The organisers said that the selection of winners for the contest was difficult from the many entries, but said they were able to painstakingly narrow to the eventual top three.

This year’s contest, sponsored by Caribbean Magazine Plus’s parent company, Arawak Media, will be streamed on Caribbean Magazine Plus’s Facebook page.
