Dock Yard Man Charged With Murder

A Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force released mugshot of Kerly Agenor after he was slapped with murder and other charges

A 29-year-old man has been formally charged with the murder of hotel worker Butler Brave Prophete earlier this year.


 Kerly Agenor, a resident of Dock Yard, Providenciales, is facing multiple charges following the advice of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.


The charges against Mr. Agenor are as follows:

·        Murder: In connection with the death of Butler Brave Prophete on March 05, 2024, in Providenciales, contrary to Section 3 of the Offenses Against the Person Ordinance Chapter 3.08.

·        Possession of a Firearm

·        Possession of Ammunition

·        Discharge of a Firearm

·        Discharge of Ammunition

The incident occurred when Prophete, aged 22 and a resident of Wheeland, Providenciales, was shot dead as he was leaving his workplace in Lower Bight.


 Agenor is currently in custody and will remain pending a Sufficiency Hearing.


Dean Holden, Superintendent of Police with the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, who oversees Crime, Safeguarding, Public Protection, and Intelligence, issued a statement praising the efforts of the Serious Crime Unit.

 

 "I wish to thank the officers of the Serious Crime Unit for their dedication and commitment in bringing this case to a charge. Further, I wish to reassure the public and families that the RTCIPF is committed to bringing prosecutions against perpetrators and, when possible, closure to persons who have lost loved ones to these senseless homicides,” Holden said.
