Edna Jeanty is Best Player of the Goombay Soccer Tourney

The Turks and Caicos Islands Under 15 Girls, did not leave the Inaugural Goombay Cup Football Tournament in the Bahamas empty-handed as two of their players – Edna Jeanty and Jai Robinson walked away with Individual accolades.

The tournament was in Nassau between July 24 and 26.


The promising Edna Jeanty copped the Golden Ball Award, outshining all the other players in tournament. The Golden Ball Award is given to the best player of a tournament. She also collects the MVP for the Turks and Caicos Team.

 

 Edna’s teammate Jamai Robinson took home the Golden Glove Award, meaning that of all the team that participated, she maintained the most clen sheets.

 

Hosted by the Bahamas Football Association, the tournament brought together U15 girls soccer teams from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Grenada and Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Cayman Islands captured the tournament title after an unbeaten 4-1-0 campaign to finish with 13 points. Bermuda placed second on eight points, edging the United States Virgin Islands on goal difference after both teams posted identical 2-2-1 records. The Turks and Caicos Islands finished fourth with six points, Bahamas in fifth position with four points, while Grenada placed sixth with one point.

#Bermuda - 8 points (2-2-1)

#United States Virgin Islands - 8 points (2-2-1)

#Turks and Caicos Islands - 6 points (1-3-1)

#Bahamas - 4 points (1-1-3)
