Five Cays Man Charged in Connection with Two Homicides

The Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) has charged a 30-year-old man in connection with two separate murders that occurred in 2023 and 2024.


Rhashad McKenzie, of Five Cays, was arrested on Thursday, May 1, 2025, and has since been formally charged with two counts of murder. The charges relate to the deaths of Ervin Glinton and Guilene Jean Baptiste.


McKenzie appeared before the court on Wednesday, May 8, and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison under the custody of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation. A Sufficiency Hearing has been scheduled for July 4, 2025, at the Supreme Court.


The charges were laid following consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).


Ervin Glinton, 22, of Sand Bar Street, Five Cays, was fatally shot on January 24, 2024. Police responded to reports of gunfire on Reece Street, where Glinton’s body was found.


Guilene Jean Baptiste, 26, of Dock Yard, was shot and killed on August 2, 2023.


As part of the ongoing investigation, George Thomas Arthur Jr., also known as “Blocks,” was arrested on March 3, 2025, during a police operation. The 48-year-old of Reece Street, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of possession of a firearm. He is accused of conspiring to murder Baptiste and is currently before the court.


The RT&CIPF has thanked members of the public for their continued cooperation and support.


“We have not forgotten the families who have lost loved ones. Rest assured, we will pursue all leads to bring closure and justice,” a statement from the police said.
