Former PNP Candidate Mark Fulford Joins PDM

Former Progressive National Party (PNP) candidate for North and Middle Caicos, attorney-at-law Mark Fulford, has defected from his party and joined the ranks of the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM).

Fulford made the announcement via his social media account on Friday, describing the move as the beginning of “a new chapter” in his public service.

“This decision was not made lightly,” Fulford, who is also President of the Turks and Caicos Bar Council wrote. “There comes a time when every person in public life must ask a simple question: where can I best serve the people of this country? My answer is clear.”

In his statement, Fulford said he believes the Turks and Caicos Islands needs “a renewed commitment to putting people first,” adding that citizens deserve leadership that creates meaningful opportunities, protects the country’s interests and ensures future generations can thrive.

He also said he believes the country is at “a defining moment” in its history and called for greater focus on preserving national identity, empowering citizens and strengthening public confidence.

“I have joined the People’s Democratic Movement because I believe I can contribute to that vision,” Fulford stated.

He stressed that his decision was rooted in public service rather than political ambition.

“This is not about politics for politics’ sake. It is about service, accountability, and restoring confidence that public life can once again place the interests of the people above all else.”

Fulford concluded by saying he looks forward to working alongside his new colleagues and earning the public’s trust through “action, integrity, and results.”

The PDM has not yet issued an official statement regarding Fulford’s announcement.
