Four Charged in Island Hookah Lounge Shooting; Grand Turk Offender Sentenced on Multiple Offences

Four individuals, including two minors, have been formally charged with firearm-related offences stemming from the July 27th, 2025 shooting incident at the Island Hookah Lounge, along Leeward Highway in Providenciales.


Police said three persons were killed and 10 injured in the predawn shooting, as heavily-armed men stormed the nightspot and fired on the patrons.

Detectives of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) Serious Crime Unit laid the charges on December 4.


 Two of the accused are 17 years old, and therefore, there names and photos could not be released.


Firearm-Related Charges:

·        Dario Butterfield, 23, of Blue Hills: Conspiracy to Possess Firearms with Intent to Injure

·       Chavion Capron, 19, of Five Cays: Conspiracy to Possess Firearms with Intent to Injure

·        Minor 1: Conspiracy to Possess Firearms with Intent to Injure

·        Minor 2: Conspiracy to Possess Firearms with Intent to Injure; Discharging a Firearm

All four accused are expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available date.


Police thanked members of the public for their cooperation and continued assistance, emphasizing that the investigation remains active. The RT&CIPF again urged residents to report suspicious activities or information related to illegal firearms by contacting 911, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS), or using the P3 Tips app.


Grand Turk Man Sentenced for Multiple Offences

In a separate matter, Marlon Gardiner Jr. of Grand Turk has been sentenced to H.M. Prison – Home of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, following breaches of a previously imposed probation order.


Gardiner Jr. was convicted on 25 April 2025 of:

·        Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm

·        Malicious Damage to Property


He received a 12-month suspended sentence and 18 months’ probation with strict conditions, including a requirement not to be arrested or charged during the probation period. This condition was later breached.


Following investigations, Gardiner Jr. was arrested on November 16, 2025, and subsequently charged. He was sentenced on 4 December 2025 in the Grand Turk Magistrate’s Court as follows:

·        Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm: 12 months’ imprisonment

·        Malicious Damage to Property: 8 months’ imprisonment

·        Breach of Probation Order: 12 months’ imprisonment


Additionally, Gardiner Jr. is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court in Grand Turk on January 9, 2026, for a Sufficiency Hearing on more serious allegations, including:

·        Three counts of Kidnapping

·        Two counts of False Imprisonment

·        One count of Rape

·        Two counts of Attempting to Strangle in Order to Commit an Offence

·        One count of Malicious Damage to Property
