Four to Represent TCI at Goodwill Swim Championships in T&T

The Turks and Caicos Islands Swim Federation (TCISF) will send a six-member delegation, comprising of four swimmers to the 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships, scheduled for August 14–16, 2026, at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

 The championships are one of the Caribbean's premier age-group swimming competitions, bringing together many of the region's most talented young athletes in an atmosphere of friendship, sportsmanship, and high-level competition.

Representing the Turks and Caicos Islands in the pool will be four promising swimmers: Isabelle Martin, Samuel Martin, Michael Martin and Daniel Martin.

The athletes will be accompanied by Mrs. Ella Martin, who will serve as Team Manager, and Mr. Bennett Williams, who has been appointed Team Coach.

The team will depart the Turks and Caicos Islands on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, to allow the swimmers time to acclimatize and participate in official training before competition begins. The Goodwill Championships also include a technical meeting and opening ceremony before the first day of racing, ensuring that all participating countries are fully prepared for the competition.

For the four young swimmers, selection to represent the Turks and Caicos Islands is a significant achievement and reflects months of dedication, discipline, and consistent training. They have spent countless hours preparing under the guidance of Coach Bennett Williams and are eager to test themselves against some of the Caribbean's best age-group swimmers.

Coach Bennett Williams expressed confidence in the team's preparation.

"Representing your country is one of the greatest honours any athlete can receive. These four swimmers have worked extremely hard, and this championship will provide valuable international racing experience that will contribute to their long-term development. Our goal is not only to achieve personal best times but also to continue building a strong future for swimming in the Turks and Caicos Islands."

Mrs. Ella Martin, serving as Team Manager, will oversee the athletes' welfare, logistics, and daily operations throughout the championships, ensuring that the swimmers can focus entirely on their performances in the pool.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Swim Federation continues to invest in youth development by providing athletes with opportunities to compete internationally. Participation in regional championships such as the Goodwill Championships is an essential step in preparing swimmers for future competitions, including CARIFTA, CAC Championships, Pan American events, Commonwealth competitions, and ultimately the Olympic Games.
