The Governor’s Office is warning the public to be on high alert following the discovery of multiple fraudulent Facebook accounts impersonating Her Excellency, Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam.
According to the official notice, at least four fake profiles bearing the names “Dileeni Daniel Selvaratnam” and “Dileeni Selvaratnam” have been identified. The Governor’s Office has confirmed these accounts are completely false and has urged the public not to engage with them or respond to any messages they may send.
“These incidents have been formally reported to Facebook for investigation and removal,” the statement read.
The public is being encouraged to stay vigilant on social media and take extra care when interacting with profiles claiming to represent government officials or other prominent individuals. Officials also advised residents to be particularly wary of unsolicited friend requests or private messages that appear to come from public figures.
Her Excellency does not conduct official business via social media direct messaging. All official communication from the Governor or her office is delivered through verified public channels or official government email addresses.
For verified updates and information, the public is reminded to follow the official accounts:
