Grand Turk Dolphins Are FortisTCI Under 17 Elite Youth League Champs


Grand Turk Dolphins celebrate after being crowned winners of the FortisTCI U17 Youth League.

In an exciting conclusion to the FortisTCI-Sponsored Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) Elite Co-Ed Under 17 League, the Grand Turk Dolphins emerged as the champions.


The season concluded with a thrilling final round group matches, which went down to the wire at the TCIFA Academy field on Saturday, June 24. The Dolphins, which needed to beat the North Caicos Seals dethrone the Provo Lions, who were close on their heels, did so courtesy of a two nil scoreline.


The Lions, who needed to win their two games did so, but that was not enough to get them over the line.



Throughout the season, a total of 30 games were played, showcasing the talents of young footballers from Grand Turk, North Caicos, South Caicos and Providenciales. The league witnessed a total of 87 goals scored, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament. Approximately 130 players participated in the event, including national team representatives such as the under 14 girls, under 15 boys, under 17 girls, and under 20 boys.

Individual players were recognized for their exceptional performances during the league. Leishawn Green from the Provo Lions received the prestigious Golden Glove award for his outstanding goalkeeping skills. Kaiden Bobb of the Provo Falcons was awarded the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals throughout the competition. The title of Most Valuable Player went to Rosaria Talbot from the Provo Jaguars, acknowledging her remarkable contributions to her team's success.

The final standings of the league were as follows: Champions the Grand Turk Dolphins claimed the top spot with 23 points from their 10 games. The Provo Lions secured second place with 20 points, closely followed by the Provo Falcons with 19 points. The Provo Jaguars finished the competition with 14 points, while the South Caicos Mariners earned 7 points from their 10 games. The North Caicos Seals ended their campaign with three points.


The Grand Turk Dolphins' victory serves as a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and skillful play throughout the season. Their success will undoubtedly inspire young football enthusiasts in the Turks and Caicos Islands, fostering a passion for the sport and encouraging the development of future talent in the region.
