Residents, athletes, families and community organizations across the Turks and Caicos Islands are being encouraged to come together in a powerful display of patriotism and unity during the upcoming Jags McCartney Road Relay, scheduled to take place on Friday, May 23, in Providenciales.

The highly anticipated event, which celebrates the life and legacy of National Hero Jags McCartney, is expected to attract a wide cross-section of participants from throughout the country as teams gather to compete, exercise and honor one of the nation’s most influential leaders.
According to promotional information released by organizers, the road relay will begin at 5:00 a.m. with participants assembling at IGA Gourmet before making their way through the community of The Bight in what is expected to be an energetic and inspiring early morning event.
The relay is being staged under the patriotic banner “Be Patriotic! Be a Part of This Event,” with organizers emphasizing that the occasion is about far more than competition. The event is designed to unite communities while encouraging healthy lifestyles, teamwork and national pride.
Participants are invited to enter as community teams, family teams, company teams and civic groups, creating an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to become involved. Registration for the event is set at $20.00.
Organizers are also encouraging businesses and organizations to use the relay as a team-building exercise while promoting wellness and civic engagement among employees and members.
The event’s slogan — “Run to Honor. Run to Inspire. Run as One” — reflects the spirit organizers hope to foster as participants move together through the streets of Providenciales in celebration of unity and national identity.
The road relay is one of the activities honoring the enduring legacy of Jags McCartney, whose leadership and dedication to the Turks and Caicos Islands helped shape the nation’s political and social development. Widely regarded as a symbol of courage, vision and patriotism, McCartney continues to inspire generations across the islands.
Organizers say the relay also serves as an opportunity for younger generations to learn more about the contributions of the National Hero while participating in a positive and healthy community activity.
Support for the event is being provided by the Turks and Caicos Amateur Athletic Association and Commonwealth Games Turks and Caicos, highlighting the continued push to strengthen athletics and community participation in sports throughout the country.
With excitement already building ahead of the event, organizers are calling on residents from across Providenciales and the wider Turks and Caicos Islands to come out in large numbers and take part in what promises to be a memorable national celebration.
Whether running competitively, participating for fitness or simply showing support along the route, organizers believe the Jags McCartney Road Relay will stand as a meaningful tribute to national unity, pride and the enduring spirit of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
