The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands has announced the appointment of Mrs. Kayla Higgs-Jones as the new Deputy Director of the Communications Directorate in the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.
Higgs-Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Multimedia Studies with a minor in Communications, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University (2017), and an Academic Certificate in Data, Security and Privacy (2022). She is also nearing the completion of a Master of Liberal Arts Degree in International Relations. A skilled graphic designer, she is certified in Social Media Marketing, Strategy and Optimization, Records and Information Management, and Crisis Communications.
She began her Public Service journey in January 2023 as a Communications Officer in the Communications Directorate. In this role, she oversaw communications for the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Deputy Governor's office. She has also played a key role in initiatives related to the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.
In response to her recent appointment, Higgs-Jones expressed her gratitude and commitment.
"I step into this position with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility as I know the critical importance of transparent and effective communication between the government and our citizens.

Deputy Governor and head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams commented on Mrs. Higgs-Jones's appointment.
“It gives me great pleasure to officially congratulate Mrs. Higgs-Jones on her appointment as the new Deputy Director of the Communications Directorate in the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.
"Mrs. Higgs-Jones has a strong communication background which has proven to be an asset to not only the Communications Directorate but to the wider public service.
"I am extremely proud of her work and her swift path to progression in the Public Service.
"We are certain that she will do exceptionally well in this new senior management role and look forward to the remarkable communications initiatives that the Communications Directorate has planned in the months ahead," she said.
