Last Of Local World War II Ex-Servicemen James Edward Fulford Has Died


World War II Vet James Edward Fulford


James Edward Fulford, the last serving member of the Ex-Servicemen's Legion who served in the Turks & Caicos Home Guard, and in the Army during World War II (1943-1945) has passed.


According to reports, Ex-Serviceman Fulford died on Saturday, May 27, at his residence on Duncombe Alley, Grand Turk.


He was 97 years old.


The Official Funeral service is scheduled to be held at the St. Thomas Church, Osborne Road, Grand Turk on Friday, June 30.

The ex-serviceman’s body will lie In-State at St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Front Street, Grand Turk from 11:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., Thursday, June 29.


The Family is scheduled to view the body between the hours of 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. Former Members of the House of Assembly and Public Officers will view the body from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. The Speaker of the House, Members of the Cabinet and the Members of the House of Assembly are scheduled to view the body between 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. The general public get their viewing from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.


The body, after leaving St. Mary’s Pro – Cathedral, is scheduled to proceed to St. Thomas Church on Friday, June at 9:15a.m. All in attendance are asked to be seated by 9am.
