Local Soccer Refs Get Level 1 Certification

CONCACAF, the regional arm of world’s football governing body FIFA, has given the green light to a number of persons who sat the Level 1 Refereeing Course, held at Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) Academy field in Providenciales over three days.

The Course was held from November 19 to 21. The main facilitator was CONCACAF Instructor and Elite Assessor Dianne Ferreira-James, with support from former FIFA instructor Dane Ritchie.

At the end of the three days of intense activities, which included physical, as well as classroom training, the participants were certified as Level 1 referees.

As refs, the newly certified officials will get the opportunity to officiate in local matches, get the chance to earn additional income and score international opportunities.

The course was also held in collaboration with the Sports Commission.
