Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Grand Turk Cutlass Attack

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) has charged a 31-year-old man with Attempted Murder following an incident that occurred in Grand Turk on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Neil Nemar Nelson, a Jamaican national residing in Grand Turk, employed as a Security Officer at the Grand Turk Cruise Centre, was formally charged on Monday, September 21, 2026, after consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The charge originated from an incident reported at 9:10 a.m. on September 19, 2026. The victim allegedly intervened in a domestic dispute involving the accused and his spouse along Barrack Hill Road. A verbal altercation between the two men ensued and the accused allegedly armed himself with a cutlass, making threats to the victim before inflicting multiple injuries with the weapon. The victim was medically attended to at the Cockburn Medical Centre, Grand Turk, and discharged.
The accused later presented himself at the Grand Turk Police Station, where he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Nelson was formally charged and cautioned on September 21, 2026. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court in Grand Turk today, September 22, 2026.
