One Dead in Boating Mishap at North Creek, Grand Turk

One man has died following a boating mishap at North Creek, Grand Turk, on Tuesday, 16 December, according to police reports.

Police say that at approximately 4:14 p.m., the Police Control Room received a report of a vessel in distress in the area. Officers responded promptly and observed a boat at sea with five individuals on board at the time of the incident.

According to police, four of the occupants were able to safely make it to shore, while one male was reported missing.

Police officers, assisted by members of the public, immediately conducted a search of the shoreline and surrounding waters. The missing man was later recovered from the sea and was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The deceased has been formally identified; however, his name is being withheld at this time.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
