AUTHOR BARBARA HANDFIELD PENS THRILLING BOOK ON JOSEPH FORBES STRUGGLES AND TRIUMPHS
Part one of the Joseph Forbes story is available on Amazon

'‘I remember diving for quarters out on Potters Cay Dock. Listen, I used to go out there in Okra Hill by Joe Berlin food store, buy a pound of rice, get matches, and go over on the Cay. I collected pieces of dried shrubs and sticks in the area to cook and lay out rocks to set the pot on.
“My sole companion was that weather-beaten lighthouse that loomed in the background like a sentential, exposed to the elements just like me. I often wandered to that craggy piece of rock and spent days and some nights out on the point, a lost boy seeking refuge from the storms of his chaotic life.'- The Joseph Forbes Story
Barbara Handfield pens the true-life story of Joseph Forbes, a narrative of tragedy, personal struggles, acceptance, learning self-love, and redemption. Joseph had the added burden of being the only son of his father, who had three wives (his mother the third). He learned through the years that the heartbreak of witnessing his mother's murder by his father was beyond his control and was not a prediction that he would follow in his father’s footsteps.
Now a professed Christian, he is quick to tell anyone that he is a sinner growing in the faith. He admits that his triumph over drugs and alcohol, self-hate, and depression, was only through the Grace and mercies of God.
Apart from letting people know that anyone can come back from madness, addiction, and pain: to joy and peace; one of the objectives of having his story written is to inform people, especially young people, on the dangers of poor choices in life and refusing well-meaning council and advice from family and friends who love you.
