A sterling all round performance from all-rounder Prabakaran Paulraj for GK Foods carried his team to a 14 run win over Beeches on Sunday, March 19, at the Downtown Ball Park as the Turks and Caicos Islands Cricket Association (TCICA) Leagues began.
GK Foods, who won the toss, elected to bat, and posted a respectable 168 runs for 8 wickets in the process from their allotted 20 overs. Paulraj led the scoring with 41 runs which consisted of five 4s and one 6. Ganesan Kuthalingham made valuable contribution to the total, with 32 runs- an innings which was punctuated with four 4s and a 6. Alston Byfield was the third higher scorer for GK Foods with 20 runs.
Bowling for Beaches, Claude Williams captured three wickets for 22 runs from four overs, while Danar Lewis, Anthony McKnight, and Sidue Hunter took one wicket a piece.
In reply Beaches faulted and reached 155 runs for nine from their allotted 20 overs.
The leading scorers were Anthony McKnight with 46, which was punctuated with seven 4s. The second best batter for Beaches on the day was Mario Smith and Sidue Hunter, who both scored 26. Smith score comprised four 4s and one 6. Hunter found the boundary ropes five times, while clearing the boundary on one occasion.
Bowling for GK Foods, Paulraj, who was adjudged player of the match, was again the top performer for his team, snaring four wickets for 20 runs from off four overs. SudalaiRaju Raju captured two wickets for 25 runs from four overs.
