Police Beat Omar In Latest Cricket Action

The Police defeated Omar by 28 runs in the latest match in the Turks and Caicos Islands Cricket Association League, played at the Downtown Ball Park in Providenciales on Sunday, April 23.

Losing the toss and sent in to take first knock, Police scored 137 all out, with Garvin Bruno top-scoring with 57 runs, punctuated with two 6s and eight 4s. Damian St. Ange was the second highest run-getter with 19, knocking a six and three 4s. Chabbie Charlrie and Alpha Edwards both got 11 runs.

Bowling for Omar, Garrette Campbell and Dane Ritchie grabbed three wickets apiece. Ritchie’s three wickets came from his four overs bowled, at the expense of 12 runs. Campbell, for his three wickets, came in four overs for 21 runs.

Ramauni Chang, who bowled 1.4 overs, grabbed two wickets, while Delovan Hardware picked up one wicket from his three overs, which cost him 21 runs.

With their turn at the crease, Omar found the going tough, courtesy of tight bowling by man of the match, St. Ange, and company.

Only Hardware, who hit two boundaries, managed to get past 20 runs, scoring 21, before he was sent back to the crease, falling to Calvin Aaron through the LBW route.

Ritchie, who was caught by Charlrie off the bowling for St. Ange for 12 runs, Otis Mullins, who was caught by Kareem Jack off a Bruno bowling, and Chang who ended the game not-out on 10, were the other batsmen to score double figures.

St. Ange grabbed three wickets for 15 runs off four overs. Aaron grabbed two wickets for 15 runs off four overs, while Lynden Tyson, Bruno, Charlrie took one wicket each.
