Officers from the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) are currently investigating a series of firearm-related incidents that took place in Providenciales on the evening of August 6th.
Robbery in Blue Hills
At approximately 9 pm, the Police Control Room received a report of an armed robbery in Snake Hill, Blue Hills. Five armed men stormed a local business, demanding cash and valuables from patrons and staff. The assailants managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, personal items, and other valuables. The RT&CIPF is urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward to assist in their investigations.
Wounding on Five Cays Road
At around 9:37 pm, police officers responded to a distress call on Five Cays Road, where they encountered a 29-year-old man running towards them. The man reported that he had been injured and was subsequently taken to a nearby medical facility. Medical personnel determined that the victim had sustained a bullet graze wound. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been near the Five Cays beach when he heard several loud explosions, suspected to be gunfire.
Discharging of Firearms in Granny Hill
During routine patrols, RT&CIPF officers were alerted to gunshots in the Granny Hill area of Five Cays. Upon arrival, they received further information leading them to Sandy Lane, where they discovered a silver Suzuki Swift riddled with bullet holes in the windshield and left passenger door glass. Despite a thorough search, no occupants were found in the vehicle.
The RT&CIPF is diligently working to piece together the details of these incidents and is calling on the public for any information that could assist in their ongoing investigations. The safety and security of the community remain a top priority for the police force.
