Officers from the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force are actively investigating two suspected murders that occurred today in Grand Turk.
The first incident was reported at approximately 3:15 pm when police were notified of the body of a female found in a house in the Palm Grove district. The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old woman, though her name is being withheld until her family is informed.
Later, at around 4:59 pm, the Police Control Room received reports of gunshots near the Parade Ground, Back Salina. Officers and medical personnel dispatched to the scene discovered the motionless body of a male with apparent gunshot wounds.
Commissioner of Police Edvin Martin addressed the public, expressing deep concern: "This afternoon’s incidents can only be described as callous, senseless, and heart-wrenching. I understand the fear caused by these incidents and assure you that no stone will be left unturned in finding the perpetrators."
To support the investigation, Commissioner Martin is personally leading a team of detectives from the Serious Crime Unit to Grand Turk. Additional tactical officers have also been deployed to strengthen the ongoing efforts. Officers are diligently following several leads to solve each case and ensure justice is served.
Commissioner Martin urges anyone with information on these incidents to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in enhancing safety.
