A 62-year-old man from Providenciales has been convicted of sexual assault following a case investigated by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF).
Â
According to police, James Stanley Godet was found guilty on October 20, 2025, in connection with an incident that occurred in North Caicos on November 30, 2023.
Â
Godet was fined $2,500, payable within 30 days, and ordered to pay $500 in compensation to the victim within 14 days. The court warned that failure to comply would result in eight weeks’ imprisonment at H.M. Prison in Grand Turk.
Â
The conviction resulted from an investigation led by officers from the Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit (SPPU), following a report filed by a 51-year-old female victim.
Â
In a statement, the RT&CIPF reaffirmed its commitment to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual offences and ensuring victims receive the necessary support and access to justice.
Â
Police are urging anyone who has experienced abuse to seek help immediately by filing a report at the nearest station or contacting the Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit at 232-6696, the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) at 338-4013 or MASH@gov.tc, or the Department of Social Development at 338-4008.
