A 62-year-old man from Providenciales has been convicted of sexual assault following a case investigated by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF).

According to police, James Stanley Godet was found guilty on October 20, 2025, in connection with an incident that occurred in North Caicos on November 30, 2023.

Godet was fined $2,500, payable within 30 days, and ordered to pay $500 in compensation to the victim within 14 days. The court warned that failure to comply would result in eight weeks’ imprisonment at H.M. Prison in Grand Turk.

The conviction resulted from an investigation led by officers from the Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit (SPPU), following a report filed by a 51-year-old female victim.

In a statement, the RT&CIPF reaffirmed its commitment to thoroughly investigating all reports of sexual offences and ensuring victims receive the necessary support and access to justice.

Police are urging anyone who has experienced abuse to seek help immediately by filing a report at the nearest station or contacting the Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit at 232-6696, the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) at 338-4013 or MASH@gov.tc, or the Department of Social Development at 338-4008. In emergencies, individuals should call 911.
