The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos proudly celebrates the exceptional achievements of its Ladies and Gentlemen following the resort’s first ever participation in Masters of the Craft, Marriott International’s premier food and beverage competition recognizing excellence in culinary arts, pastry, and beverage craftsmanship.

Driven by the vision, encouragement, and leadership of Executive Chef Andres Davila, The Ritz Carlton, Turks & Caicos introduced Masters of the Craft to the resort for the very first time, creating a platform for its talented culinary and beverage professionals to showcase their creativity, passion, and technical expertise.
Through the collaboration and support of multiple departments and the unwavering commitment of the resort's Ladies and Gentlemen, the inaugural competition was successfully brought to life, highlighting the remarkable talent that exists within the property.
Masters of the Craft challenges participants to transform surprise ingredients into elevated culinary and beverage creations that reflect creativity, storytelling, and technical mastery.
This year’s mystery ingredients celebrated both sustainability and the flavors of the destination, with broccoli stem selected for the culinary category to showcase sustainable culinary practices and the thoughtful utilization of ingredients, while locally sourced basil for Pastry and soursop juice for Beverage highlighted the natural flavors and resources of Turks & Caicos.Â

Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges on creativity, technical execution, presentation, flavor, and storytelling, showcasing each participant's ability to elevate unexpected ingredients into refined and innovative creations.
A standout achievement came from Dereka Hepburn, who was selected to represent The Ritz Carlton, Turks & Caicos at the Masters of the Craft Virtual Semi-Finals. Out of more than 650 associates who competed across the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region, only 10 competitors per discipline advanced, making Dereka's selection a remarkable accomplishment for both the resort and the Turks & Caicos Islands.
“Our first Masters of the Craft competition showcased the extraordinary talent and passion of our Ladies and Gentlemen," said Executive Chef Andres Davila. "I am incredibly proud of Cathy, Dereka, and Brihana for embracing this challenge, and especially of Dereka for advancing to the Virtual Semi-Finals. We look forward to supporting her as she represents our resort on the international stage."

Following an impressive display of skill and imagination, this year's property champions were:
Culinary Champion: Cathy Diola
Pastry Champion: Dereka Hepburn
Beverage Champion: Brihana Merilien
The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos congratulates all three champions for their outstanding achievements and wishes Dereka continued success as she competes among Marriott International's top pastry professionals.
Located in Grace Bay, The Ritz-Carlton, Turk & Caicos provides guests with luxurious accommodations, sophisticated dining experiences, and endless amenities and activations.
