The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) has launched an internal investigation following the circulation of a report online involving alleged misconduct by police officers and civilians at a business establishment in Grace Bay.
While the full details of the incident remain under review, the RT&CIPF said it is treating the matter with urgency and seriousness. A thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Should any officer be found culpable of misconduct, appropriate disciplinary or legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
The Force reaffirmed its stance that all officers, whether in uniform or civilian attire, are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the honour of their position.
“All officers, whether in uniform or off-duty, are expected to behave in a manner that reflects the honour of the uniform they wear,” a statement from the police said.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any instances of police misconduct directly to the Justice Investigative Protection, Professional Standards and Vetting Unit by calling (649) 232-5886.
