Acting Commissioner of Police referred to Grand Turk, Providenciales gun murders as Tragic and Senseless
Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams has described the shooting deaths of Anlinco john Lightbourne and Omarion Gardiner as tragic and senseless acts which have traumatised the TCI communities.
Lightbourne was shot and killed on Providenciales, while Gardiner was shot to death on Grand Turk. The incidents took place minutes to 11:30p.m. on Saturday, and minutes after 3a.m. on Sunday on Grand Turk.
Acting Commissioner Rodney Adam, who expressed condolences to the families of both men, said Lightbourne was shot to death minutes to 12p.m. on Saturday, while Gardiner was killed minutes past 3a.m. on Sunday.
Acting Commissioner Adams said, “Homicide detectives are actively investigating these separate incidents. Based on preliminary investigations, around 11:38 pm yesterday (April 20th), a report was made at the Chalk Sound Police Station concerning a shooting incident. Officers were dispatched to a location in the Bight, Providenciales and found the lifeless body of 31-year[1]old Mr Lightbourne.
“The second incident occurred today at 3:18 am in Grand Turk. Investigations revealed that Mr. Gardiner, 20, was with friends when three armed men shot at the group. Officers of the Grand Turk Police Station were notified and commenced searches along Duke Street.
“The body of Mr. Gardiner was found. Both victims suffered gunshot wounds, suggesting a targeted attack.”
The RTCIPF asks the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, and anonymously give any information on these shootings and illegal activity.
