The Turks and Caicos Islands National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday, September 25th until 8 p.m. Saturday, September 27th, as a tropical wave is expected to impact the region, which included The Bahamas.
Forecasters warn of east winds between 10 and 20 knots, with gusts reaching up to 25 to 35 knots, and rough seas between 5 and 8 feet. The advisory covers Atlantic waters along Providenciales, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, East Caicos, South Caicos, Grand Turk, and Salt Cay.
The tropical wave, identified as Invest 94L, is expected to bring heavy rains, gusty winds, and dangerous marine conditions across the islands beginning Friday and continuing through Saturday.
Authorities caution that conditions will be hazardous for small vessels. Mariners, particularly those with limited experience, are being urged to avoid going out to sea, remain in or near port, and take necessary safety measures.
“Boaters should reconsider their plans altogether until conditions improve,” the Weather Service advised, noting the potential for quickly deteriorating conditions as the system passes.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay alert to updates from official channels as the weather system moves through the area.
