file

Marijuana-laced gummies were among the illicit drugs seized during a sting operation conducted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) on the island of South Caicos.

The operation, which took place on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, resulted in multiple arrests.

The joint operation, led by the South Caicos Police Station in collaboration with the TCI Border Force, focused on tackling illegal employment and immigration violations. During a search of a local resort, officers, assisted by a K9 unit, uncovered drugs in a room occupied by two males, aged 37 and 58. Both men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

In a separate search within the same resort, officers found another quantity of drugs, including a bag of gummies suspected to be infused with cannabis, in a room occupied by a 25-year-old individual. The suspect was also taken into custody.

All three suspects remain in police custody as investigations are ongoing.

The RTCIPF is urging the public to report any information regarding illegal activities to their nearest police station, call 911, or contact the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or via the Crime Stoppers P3 app.
