Swimmer Rohan Shearer Aims To Perform Well For TCI At The Commonwealth Games

Shearer has been improving with every swim leading up to the Games. He won silver for the TCI, in the CARIFTA 50m backstroke back in 2019.

He will compete in the 100m backstroke (Friday 29th July), the 100m freestyle (Sunday 31st July), 50m backstroke (Sunday 31st July) and and the 50m freestyle (Tuesday 2nd August).

The other swimmer representing the TCI is Arleigha Hall. She's competing in the 50m freestyle (Saturday 30th July), 50m butterfly (Sunday 31st) and the 50m backstroke (Tuesday 2nd August).

All of their heats take place in the mornings, and the UK is 5 hours ahead of The TCI.

This is the first-time swimmers have represented the Turks and Caicos Islands at the Commonwealth Games, and according to Vender Walters, a member of TCI Swim Federation, “With the current growth of swimming I'm sure that we'll see swimmers representing the TCI in 2026 Games and beyond.”
