Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital has announced the launch of its annual Clinical Observership Summer Programme, designed for students who are currently enrolled in a clinical sciences university programme.
The programme will provide participants with an immersive clinical experience under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.
The Clinical Observation Summer Programme is a three-week programme that will begin from July 24th to August 11th, 2023, at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre. Throughout the programme, students can observe and learn through various clinical rotations in Allied Health (Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Diagnostic Imaging) and Clinical Specialty areas.
This programme aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the various careers within the healthcare space.
"Through the Clinical Observership Summer Programme, we are providing a unique opportunity for medical and health-related university students to gain real-world experience in healthcare and learn from our experienced healthcare professionals," said Dr Dawn Perry Ewing, Chief of Medical Services.
"This programme reinforces our commitment to educationand the advancement of healthcare," explained Dr Perry-Ewing.
"We are thrilled to launch this innovative Clinical Observership Programme," said Dr Sani Amatti, Deputy Chief of Medical Services at the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital.
"We recognize the value of hands-on experience in the medical field and the importance of building strong relationships between students, healthcare professionals, and patients," added Dr Amatti.
To participate in the Clinical Observership Summer Programme, students must apply utilizing the QR code or registration link. A 500-word personal statement and a curriculum vitae must be uploaded to the application portal.
The Turks and Caicos Island Hospital aims to provide a supportive, collaborative environment that encourages active learning and facilitates student growth. The deadline to apply is July 10th, 2023.
