The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital has announced the launch of its summer Ready Programme – Careers in Healthcare for high school students, providing a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight and experience in both clinical and non-clinical aspects.

The summer programme, which runs from July 10th to July 14th, 2023, at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and July 18th – July 21st at the Cockburn Town Medical Centre, is open to High School students from the third form and upwards who have an avid interest in careers in the healthcare industry.

The programme aims to provide an insight into the day-to-day workings of a hospital, enabling students to explore a range of healthcare professions and gain new skills and knowledge along the way.

Through the Summer Ready Programme, students will be able to shadow healthcare professionals in various specialities, experiencing first-hand what it is like to work in a busy hospital environment.

The programme will enable students to learn about important aspects of healthcare such as nursing, medicine, physiotherapy, pharmacy, radiology, public relations and marketing, human resource management and finance.

Successful students will have opportunities to develop important skills in heart saver training, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication.

This is part of our commitment to supporting education and providing opportunities for young people to learn about the healthcare industry. We believe that this programme will help inspire and motivate young people to pursue careers in healthcare and make a positive impact in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
