The Turks and Caicos Islands Under 15 Girls and Boys put in sterling performances in their opening of a three-match encounter against their United States Virgin Islands (USVI) counterparts at the TCIFA Academy Field on Providenciales, Friday, June 2.
In the curtain-raiser, the Girls showed no mercy to their guests, hammering them 8-1. In the feature match between the local Under 15 Boys and the USVI, the former showed guts and resilience to pulverize their guests by a 7-1 margin.
Technical Director Andrew Edwards told NewslineTCI before the game that the three matches on either side were to gauge the level of adaptability of the players to the 10-year Strategic Development Plan, which began in 2020.
The competition continues Saturday, with the Boys Under 15 taking the field against their US Virgin Islands peers at 5 pm, followed by the female faceoff at 7 pm.
The final set of games on Sunday will see the females gracing the field at 4 pm, and at 6 pm, the local boys will do battle once again against their US Virgin Islands rivals.
