The Delano Williams Foundation Annual 5K/10K Road Race Nov. 19, Dec. 2

The annual Delano Williams Foundation (DWF) 5K/10K - Run/Walk Road Race is scheduled to take place in Providenciales on November 19, and Grand Turk on December 2 respectively.

Each event will begin at 5a.m.

On Providenciales, the race will begin at the Graceway Gourmet Parking Lot in Grace Bay, returning to same venue for the closing and prize-giving ceremony.

In Grand Turk, the event will start from the Clock Tower, ending on the Parade Grounds for the closing and prize-giving ceremony.

Rita Gardiner, Head of the DWF said that over the past two years the COVID-19 pandemic has “brought the sporting world to its knees, but we are delighted that we are back on track and the organizers of the DWF Road Race are about to welcome another exciting event that will be beneficial to the athletes of the Turks and Caicos Islands through its fund-raising programs.”

Gardiner noted that the Delano Williams Foundation, which was launched in 2014, has since been contributing significantly to the advancement and preparation of athletes of the Turks and Caicos Islands, travelling for competition at national, regional and international levels.

“We hope to continue working with sporting associations to develop athletes to their fullest potential,” Gardiner said.

She added: “To maintain our efforts, a number of fund raising events are scheduled. The Road Race is just one of those events that will prove our commitment to the youths. As from 2023, we will be advertising outside the Turks and Caicos Islands, thus allowing Regional and International Runners to participate. This will be a great introduction to Sports Tourism.

“However, the Foundation humbly solicit your financial support towards the successful staging of this year’s event. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the first three winners in each category - male and female adults; children under 12 and under 18 - male and female.

“Each person will receive a T-Shirt, Arm band and a Water Bottle. Healthy refreshments will be served to the participants at the official closing ceremonies.”
