The Fox In The Hen House Didn’t Eat Any Chickens!!!

Dear Mr. Editor,

I had to respond to the most recent press release from the Office of the Premier and Public Policy. I don’t know if I was ashamed, or my thought process was that someone who wrote the release isn’t living in Turks and Caicos.

This press release is rather laughable and absurd coming from the Hon. Premier. The fox in the hen house is saying all the hens ran away, no breeches to the hen house other than the hole he sneaked through; the lock is still on the door, he got caught in the hen house and he has blood and feathers around his mouth and acting like he doesn’t know what is going on. Hon. Premier if Joe Biden was near you, he would have slapped you back to reality and tell you to wake up!!!

The Hon. Premier was the very one who took Water Sports out of the restricted category and now he’s talking about “Our priority is to protect our local businesses, promote healthy competition, and ensure the sustainability of our water sports and tourism industry”.

How can the Hon. Premier twist his tongue to even make such a statement? It’s a pity when you look in the dictionary for the word “hypocrite” you don’t see the Hon. Premier’s photograph ‘biggly’ and bold.

People do not forget it was the Hon. Charles Washington Misick who took Water Sports out of the reserved category for his very own benefit at the cost of our local businessmen and women, then has the unmitigated gall to talk about carrying out an investigation???? My question is, ‘for what’, Hon. Premier??? There are many of us who are waiting patiently for the revelation of your findings.

Hon. Premier you are a common disgrace to the sanctity of human decency, you lack empathy and you and your PNP government are a sell out to our people in the Turks and Caicos Islands. You know exactly what you and your government have already done and what you and your government continue to do to our local businesses. What is so wrong on every level is that every elected and appointed member of this PNP government is QUIET and has nothing to say at the peril of our struggling people in this country.

They DO NOT open their mouths, they DO NOT answer their phones and they have NO time to give TCIslanders any kind of representation whatsoever!!! Don’t worry, all those who have tape over their mouths and are quiet while we struggle to survive will soon come knocking at your door for a vote. Remember we can’t take no ‘More’ in 24!!!

According to the release from the Hon. Premier the investigation into Red Hospitality, is a proactive step which underscores the government’s unwavering dedication to fostering fair competition, economic justice, inclusive growth and sustainability for the benefit of all stakeholders, the tourism sector and economy. I think the Hon. Premier is having one of those moments, selective amnesia or a disregard for his very own policies and laws which he and his government enacted.

Hon. Premier in 2021 you passed the Carnival bill and gave them the sweetheart deal of a lifetime when our people throughout the Turks and Caicos had an opportunity to make millions;  you and your government Hon. Premier decided to give it to a selective few, and you renewed Carnival’s contract for another (17-18) years marginalizing and hindering TCIslanders financial independence and growth.

The same Carnival bill that had the devil details in it to remove all our local young businessmen and women off the beach in Grand Turk. Let me say this to Carnival executives, my darlings, the Hon. Premier and the PNP government lied to you because that will NEVER happen in GRAND TURK, the Nation’s capital!!! You did not tell TCIslanders that that was one of the main reasons Carnival Executives were at you and your government’s throats because you and your government alleged to have backpedaled on your deal. TCIslanders if you want “More in 24” this is the cart, but the load is behind. For (3 1/2) years this PNP government legislated law after law, penned policy after policy at the detriment of our people.

Mr. Editor what I don’t truly understand is, whenever the PNP and their cronies find themselves in a compromising position or get caught with their hands deep in the cookie jar, there’s always a get out of jail advocation by the PNP linking the PDM to their corrupt, selfish, greedy misgivings, that is hogwash. Hon. Premier and the PNP were the ones who took the water sports out of the reserve category. If l lied, let any one of them backtalk me.

Mr. Editor let’s use Beaches for example, they have their own company competing with our local water sports operators because they fell in the Belonger category. I told the PNP government that it was wrong back then to give Mr. Stewart Belonger Status because of the problem it would have  created for our locals in the business sector.

The greed and corruption was then and continues still with this same PNP. They’re going to ease off for now and tell you every lie they can find to be re-elected, but they have already shown their hand. The water sports is not the only thing, our Airports, Seaports and others ports are all apart of this PNP agenda. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

Hon. Premier since you and your government don’t want to do the obvious and is dancing around the maypole, Water Sports should be placed back in the restricted category and Red Hospitality should not be given the green light to continue with their takeover of this industry, period!!!

There’s much, much much more in 24 from this sell out PNP government. Hon. Premier just how they, their wives and children can go on vacations, go to the spa, send their children to Ivy League institutions, drive in the best and live in the best etc, our water sports businessmen/women and local entrepreneurs desire the same. They’re working hard on the grind every day, not stealing, bribing, defrauding, embezzling or committing criminal acts. They deserve a chance to be empowered like anyone else because this is our country.

They’re not asking for handouts and you and your government are NOT doing US a favor. The money is not too good for our people. If the money is not too good for those who come amongst us and live then it’s certainly not too good for our people!!! This is only a chip of the iceberg!!! TCIslanders we can win together because we are stronger together!!! Let us stand up and fight together because we are better together!!!

Mr. Editor may God continue to bless you and may God continue to bless our Beautiful by Nature Turks and Caicos Islands.

Dwayne Taylor, Former Speaker of the House of Assembly
