Third Annual Calvin 'Kelly' Williams Junior Basketball Invitational Kicks Off With Exciting Lineup



Basketball enthusiasts in Providenciales are gearing up for an action-packed weekend as the Third Annual Calvin 'Kelly' Williams Junior Basketball Invitational gets underway.


The tournament tips off on Saturday, September 29, at the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex, promising a thrilling showcase of young talent.


This year's competition, scheduled to run from September 30 to October 3, will feature some of the most promising basketball players aged 15 and under from various schools in the Turks and Caicos Islands. According to Trevor Cooke, the General Secretary of the TCI Basketball Federation, each day of the competition will be filled with exciting games, running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.


The participating schools are all set to make this tournament an unforgettable spectacle. Defending champions Clement Howell High School will be back to defend their title, facing off against fierce competitors including Helena J. Robinson High School, Louise Garland Thomas High School, British West Indies College, Wesley Methodist High School, Maranatha Academy High School, TCIPS, and Elite Academy High School.


The opening day of the tournament promises to be packed with high-intensity matchups. The action begins with Clement Howell High School taking on TCIPS at 10 a.m. In the second game at 11 a.m., Elite Academy will go head-to-head with British West Indies Collegiate. At 2:30 p.m., fans can expect an exciting clash between Helena J. Robinson High School and Louise Garland Thomas High School.


The day continues with Clement Howell High School facing off against Elite Academy at 4 p.m., followed by Maranatha Academy High School and Helena J. Robinson High School taking the court at 5:30 p.m. The opening ceremony, set for 5 p.m., will add an extra layer of excitement to the event, and the final game of the day at 6 p.m. will see British West Indies Collegiate battling TCIPS.


The excitement doesn't stop there, as Sunday, October 1, brings another full day of basketball action. Five exciting games are on the schedule, with Maranatha Academy High School facing Wesley Methodist High School in the opening encounter at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m., Clement Howell High School will take on British West Indies Collegiate, followed by TCIPS and Elite Academy's faceoff at 3 p.m. Louise Garland Thomas High School will battle Maranatha Academy High School at 4 p.m., and the day will close with Wesley Methodist High School facing off against Helena J. Robinson High School, concluding the preliminary fixture.
