Three Jamaicans Arrested; Large Sum of Cash Seized

The Marine Branch of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have arrested three Jamaicans on illegal entry breaches and seized an undisclosed amount of cash.


The men appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this past Monday, September 6th, on a charge of unlawful entry. Two of them pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined $1500, to be paid in seven days and to remain in custody at the Detention Centre.


The third man pleaded not guilty and was expected to return to court at a later date.


According to the police, the incident took place on August 30. It is reported that the three were arrested after the Marine Branch Officials intercepted a 21-foot blue and white vessel.


Officers on board M/V Sea Pursuit located the vessel one mile off Bay Cay. The three men were processed, arrested and charged by Immigration Officials. A large sum of cash was found following a search of the vessel. The cash was seized.


The two men who pleaded guilty and were fined could face three months in jail should they default on payment.


The police disclosed that additional charges are expected to be brought against the men.
