Tajoe Opong, Antwon Walkin Shine At McKinley/Wint Classic

Tajoe Opong and Antwon Walkin of Team TCI, who are both attending Kingston College in Jamaica, turned heads at the McKinley/Wint Classics Track and Field event last week.


Tajoe Opong

Opong, who competed in the Class One category, broke the National Record for Shot Put and discus. He was 4th in the shot with a 17.29m put.


Antwon Walkin

He placed 3rd in his stronger event - the discus - with a 48.34m throw. His previous records and former PB were 37.88m and 13.20m shot. Both were achieved at The Excelsior Meet in Kingston on March 6, 2021.


Walkin secured a 1st place finish with a big 16.20m finish in the class 2 Boys shot put.

In the meantime, NewslineTCI understands that Rebecca Bernadin closed her indoor season with three big performances at Alabama State University.


In the 800m she finished at time of 2:15.72; in the 3k, she finished with a time of 10.45.06; and in the 5k, she ended with a time of 19.19.16.


Her 800m time is a national indoor record. It was previous held by Yanique Haye Smith. She ran 2.19.02 at the KMS Opener in Virginia on 5 December 2021.
