TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDER APPOINTED AS BLUE PLANET ALLIANCE GLOBAL YOUTH AMBASSADOR

The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture congratulates Ms Oshin Whyte, a Turks and Caicos Islander and environmental scientist, who has been appointed as a Blue Planet Alliance Global Youth Ambassador.
This prestigious appointment recognises her outstanding contributions to climate action and sustainable development, and formalises her continued commitment to the mission and future objectives of the Global Youth Ambassador Programme.
Ms. Whyte is the founder of Gaia Environmental, an environmental consultancy that delivers environmental impact assessments and science-based sustainable development solutions. Through her work, she provides critical technical support aimed at strengthening climate resilience, protecting fragile ecosystems, and promoting environmentally responsible development within island communities.
Blue Planet Alliance is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the transition to 100% renewable energy, with a strong focus on supporting island nations that are on the frontlines of climate change. In her role as Global Youth Ambassador, Ms. Whyte will advocate for renewable energy solutions, raise awareness on climate resilience, and contribute to advancing the renewable energy transition and sustainable development agenda in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Commenting on the appointment, Hon. Rachal Taylor, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, stated, “Ms Whyte’s appointment as a Blue Planet Alliance Global Youth Ambassador is a powerful example of the impact our young people can have on the global stage. Her work reflects the innovation, leadership, and environmental stewardship that we seek to instill in all our youth. The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands commends Ms Whyte's achievement and looks forward to the positive contributions she will continue to make toward climate resilience and sustainable development, both locally and internationally.”
